No, your eyes don’t deceive you. Store shelves will not be fully restocked with disinfecting wipes until at least 2021! Clorox CEO Benno Dorer told Reuters this week (August 3rd) it has been impossible to keep up with the demand. Normally the company sets aside an excess supply for flu season, however, there has been an increase for disinfectants six times the normal season.
Supply for most disinfectants, like liquid bleach, will return over the next couple of months. However, Dorer says wipes will be out of commission for the foreseeable future. Many disinfecting wipes are made from polyester spunlace, which is why they are running out! That is the exact same material used to construct masks, medical gowns, and medical wipes.
Dorer also added, “it’s probably going to take until 2021 before we’re able to meet all the demand that we have.” Better stock up while you can, the next thing to go will most likely be Clorox disinfecting sprays!
