Grab the milk and bread, snow may be moving into Mid-Mo Friday & Saturday.
From the National Weather Service in St. Louis,
- Forecast guidance continues to show a greater likelihood for precipitations from Friday afternoon through Saturday evening.
- It appears that it will be cold enough that most of this precipitation will fall as snow.
- We’re still 3 days out from when this storm is expected to move into the region, so the forecast is still rather uncertain at this point.
At this time it appears that most of the precipitation will fall as snow, although there could be a period of sleet in southeast MO Friday afternoon. Significant amounts are possible, especially across east central and southeast MO and southwest IL.
Latest forecast models are actually in good agreement showing a strong storm moving across the southern US. Models also agree that we’ll see some sub freezing temps during this period. Given that we’re still 3 days away from this event, confidence is only low to medium.
Although these are preliminary amounts it appears that the highest amounts will likely occur across east central and southeast MO and southwest IL with the likelihood of at least 1-2 inches becoming more likely for most of our area.
