Fire up the computer/tablet/phone/internet device (or gas up the car) because it’s New Music Tuesday!
There are a couple new country albums out today: one you may not be aware of, and one that’s been highly anticipated.
Frankie Ballard – Sunshine & Whiskey
With one single currently making its way up the charts (“Helluva Life”), Frankie Ballard has enjoyed the reaction to his new music. His second album, Sunshine & Whiskey, features songs written by Ballard as well as Rhett Akins, David Lee Murphy, and Ashley Gorley, who’s written hits for Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, and Luke Bryan to name a few.
Some of the highlights on the album include “Drinky Drink” and “Don’t Tell Mama I Was Drinking”, which has been covered by Ty Herndon, Gary Allan, and Doug Stone.
Eric Church – The Outsiders
Studio album number four from Eric Church has some mystery to it, thanks to Eric himself. Cryptic videos leading up to the release of the album have left some fans confused, and Eric even joked that he didn’t even understand his own videos. Eric describes some of the music on this album as a mix of Waylon Jennings and Metallica; the title track is the best example of this mixture. “Give Me Back My Hometown” is shooting up the charts and receiving a considerable amount of play, especially here on KAT Country, and it’s a safe bet that it won’t be the last song from this album to get attention. Side note: Eric co-wrote all the songs on The Outsiders, just like his first three albums.
